Elgibility criteria for selecting poor patients?

Two Categories.
1. Annual income < Rs 72,000 - Entirely free.
2. Annual income between Rs 72,000 - Rs 2,00,000 - Entirely free. Donates any amount to H4H for another patient.
3. Annual income > Rs 2,00,000 - Not Free. Subsidised rate. Donates any amount to H4H for another patient. ( Project - Joint Effort to save Hearts (JESH))

What are the documentary evidences?

Income Certificate , Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Bonafide Certificate, CMCHIS Card - Chief Minister's Comphrensive Health Insurance Scheme(Tamilnadu).

How are they detected?

Camps, Referrals by patients / doctors or direct.

What is the target population?

Less affluents of India.

How many districts have been covered so far?

30 districts of Tamilnadu except Ariyalur & Karur

Method of covering travel expenses?

Travel expenses are reimbursed with evidences such as tickets.

Method of accomodating patients?

Udhavum Karangal(UK) & Help us charitable trust(HCT) @ subsidised rate.

Duration of stay from preparation to recovery?

Preop - 2 days in UK or HCT.
Surgery & Intensive care - 7 days in PHC.
Postop - 7 more days till completely stable - (UK or HCT).

What is the importance of performing cardiac surgery?

75% become normal, 15% become near normal, 10% have a better and longer life.

How is the impact on patient's family by doing surgery?

Precious child is restored & asset for family re instated. Adults return to protect their families & resume their careers.

Role of awareness program in society?

Before Surgery:
1. To dispel ignorance of seriousness of cardiac diseases.
2. To emphasise the importance of viral fever or drug ingestion during the first trimester of the mother.
3. To convince that surgery can bring them to normalcy / or give longer and better lives.
After Surgery:
1. To convince society that after surgery majority are normal. Such men and women should be absorbed into the normal streams of lives.
2. To remind society that there are many operated in different walks of lives inspite of hurdles. They form "manpower" about which our country is justly proud.
Donors:
1. Nearly 90% of beneficiaries can become normal or near normal after surgery
2. Donors' deeds' yield longevity with good quality of life for those who would have otherwise died.
3. They prove that fundamental Right to Life is ensured through equality.
4. There is a tendency among all to donate for children and not adults. However,please remember that one bread winner or homemaker saved means 4-6 dependents are saved.

How will be these children 10 years after surgery ?
